Planning consent for Drumduff wind farm extension will triple its generation capacity
The extension will boost the overall capacity of the Scottish wind project to over 21MW.

Loch a’Bhraoin hydro-electric is located in the Scottish Highlands. The project is on the Inverbroom Estate, in the valley of Wester Ross, eight miles from Ullapool. Loch a’Bhraoin in Gaelic means ‘Loch of showers or drizzling rain’, so it’s a good place for hydro power!
Thrive provided mezzanine funding for the construction of this 2MW hydro project, which began generation in October 2020. Loch a’Bhraoin comprises two turbines connected by a buried pipeline to the river. This increases the water pressure enabling the flow to turn the turbines more efficiently. Water extracted is returned to the same water course downstream.
